We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 24 September 2026.
We found the practice had met all regulations.
The practice had effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.
Staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation and there was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Staff provided care and treatment in line with current guidance. They treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
Island House Dental Care is in Woodbridge, Suffolk and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
The practice is located on the ground and first floor of a purpose-built accommodation, developed from a restored engine shed adjacent to the town railway station and close to the banks of the river Deben. There is one step at the front of the building, due to the lay out of the pay and display car park at the front of the practice there is limited room to use a ramp for access. Level access for people who use wheelchairs and those with pushchairs is available through an alternative entrance at the rear of the practice. Car parking spaces, including dedicated parking for disabled people, are available in a pay and display car park outside the practice.
The practice had 6 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 30 staff, of which there were 7 dentists, 1 orthodontist, 1 endodontist, 16 dental nurses, 3 dental hygienists and 2 receptionists who are also qualified dental nurses. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection.
The service provides cosmetic treatments, some of which are not in scope of CQC regulation and are not covered in our inspection.
