At our last inspection we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people’s outcomes were consistently good, and people’s feedback confirmed this.

The provider planned and delivered people’s care and treatment with them, including what was important and mattered to them. They did this in line with legislation and current evidence-based good practice and standards. Staff involved people in planning their care and support. Care was tailored to individuals.

People’s nutritional needs were assessed and met. Staff encouraged people to enjoy a healthy balanced diet but also respected their choices and decisions in relation to food and drinks. People and relatives were complimentary about the food and felt that people’s dietary requirements were catered for. A person commented, “The food is great, homemade and (there is) seconds (available).”

A health professional told us, “I have always appreciated Riverside Care home, and they have some of the lowest rates of undernutrition in the area.”
