Priory Park Care Home

Date of assessment: 5 to 18 November 2025. Priory Park Care Home provides accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care or treatment of disease, disorder or injury. The home can accommodate up to 40 younger adults and older people, including those living with Mental Health, Dementia, a physical disability or sensory impairments. At the time of this assessment 37 people were living at the home.

An unannounced inspection took place to review the quality of care and compliance with legal regulations. We assessed all quality statements from the key questions of Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-Led.

We found staffing levels were good. Staff did not rush and took time to interact with people; interactions were not all task led and showed compassion and respect for those living within the home.

Care was person centred and maintenance was being carried out with minimal disruption to individuals. Activities were identified to improve wellbeing which included dedicated activities for those who spent time in their rooms. Specific activities were arranged for several individuals that went above and beyond day-to-day care.

Staff were positive when talking about the service. Staff felt valued, were able to contact managers with any concerns and spoke of management as, “Part of the team”. They confirmed they had a manageable workload.

There was a good level of training for staff and evidence of succession planning with internal promotions into senior and administration roles.

Staff were given regular supervision and appraisal.

Concerns highlighted during the assessment such as additional information being needed in care plans and a missing risk assessment were actioned immediately and resolved following feedback.

People and their relatives gave very positive feedback about the home and the care people received. Comments included, “Residents are at the heart of everything they do here, staff seem to genuinely care” and “We feel we’ve done the right thing and couldn’t imagine them anywhere else.”

Some people could not directly tell us about their experiences, so we used observations to assess their experience of care. Staff were seen to interact with people positively, in a kind and caring manner, and there was a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere at the home. A relative said, “[Person] feels a level of contentment and respect and that would be important to them.”

We received positive comments about the staffing levels and the impact this had on the continuity and quality of care. A relative said, “People are respected, staff take their time” and relatives confirmed people did not have to wait for help.

Relatives told us people were safe and gave examples of how the home supported them to manage risk. A relative told us, “When I’m on holiday or unable to visit them, I am content they are safe.” We observed people being given space and time when upset, staff moved around with the person and did not limit their movement or freedom. A person told us, “Staff are always polite and respectful, I feel safe, care is good.”

Some relatives mentioned their only issue was occasionally it could be difficult getting through to the home on the telephone.
