Updated 4 August 2025
Date of assessment: 16 September to 15 October 2025. The Hamilton’s Residential Home is a residential care home supporting older people who may be living with dementia. We completed this assessment to check the provider had taken action to comply with warning notices served after our last assessment. We found the service had improved and was no longer in breach of regulations. Further improvements are needed to ensure people always receive safe care.
Detailed guidance had been provided to staff about how to meet people’s needs, further action was needed to make sure this was always specific to the person. There were enough staff to meet people’s care needs, however improvements were needed to make sure people’s wellbeing was supported through occupation and engagement. Staff had been supported to complete training and keep their skills up to date. Medicines were now managed safely. Action had been taken to manage the risk of the spread of infections. Environmental risk had been assessed and mitigated, including fire evacuation.
Leadership had improved and staff worked well as a team. They felt supported, motivated, appreciated and involved. The provider’s oversight had improved, and regular checks were now completed on all areas of the service. Where improvements were required, action had been planned and completed.
This service has been in Special Measures since 13 May 2025. The provider demonstrated improvements that have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.
