Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 1 October to 22 October 2025. Dolphin View Care Home is registered to provide accommodation, nursing and personal care to a maximum of 35 older people, including people who live with dementia. The service was across two floors, with a range of communal and outdoor space. At the time of the inspection, there were 35 people living at the home.
The assessment was triggered to follow up breaches of regulations at the previous inspection. At our last inspection, we found the service to be in breach of the legal regulations in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. At this inspection improvements had been made, and the service was no longer in breach of those regulations.
We gathered information from people who used the service, relatives, the manager, care staff and health and social care partners. The manager was not registered with CQC at the time of the inspection. Since then they were successful at interview and are now the registered manager.
Care plans, risk assessments and care records were person-centred. They were detailed, robust and evidenced that staff knew the people they were supporting.
Governance and audit systems and processes were in place that identified areas for improvement. When actions were identified they had been completed. Lessons learned and updates to staff were shared effectively or consistently.
Staff said managers were approachable, supportive and listened to them. Management worked closely with staff and people to ensure that care was delivered to a standard that met clear expectations.
The manager had made and implemented changes to policies and procedures which ensured they had good oversight over the service. Audits were in place and utilised to ensure good quality care and treatment was delivered.
People's experience of this service
People’s feedback was positive. Comments from people included, “[I feel] safe and happy [here],”. “Very nice and the lounges are lovely,” and “They [care staff] spoil us rotten!”
Overall feedback from family members, included that the current manager wanted to build rapport with local people in the community and with family members. This had left people feeling positive about the future. Feedback regarding previous lack of activities had been listened to and acted upon. Changes implemented had proven to have had a positive effect on people and staff alike. One family member told us, “The new manager seems to have lifted spirits and has her finger on the pulse.”
