We completed a site visit to the registered office on 7 May 2026. SCC Prison Social Care Team is a specialist Surrey County Council team providing adult social care within local prisons. They offer tailored support for people with dementia, mental health, learning disabilities, and physical disabilities. At the time of this inspection 16 people were receiving personal care across 5 prisons.
We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. 'Right support, right care, right culture' is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people, and providers must have regard to it. We found the provider was meeting this.
The inspection was carried out because the service had been registered with CQC since March 2020 and had not yet been inspected.
Processes to help ensure that risks to people were assessed and mitigated were effective. There was enough staff deployed to meet people’s needs according to their agreed package of care.
There were good systems to protect people from the risk of infection and cross contamination, and staff followed good practice. There were systems in place for the safe recruitment of staff. People were supported by staff who were kind and caring and knew them well.
People and their relatives were involved in their initial assessment, support planning and the management of individual risks. Staff received regular training and had their competencies checked. Staff spoke favourably of the management team and felt listened to and consulted.
The provider supported staff wellbeing, and staff were encouraged to give feedback. Leaders were visible and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles.
There were governance systems in place to monitor the quality of the service, and these were effective.
This provider is required to have a registered manager to oversee the delivery of regulated activities at this location. At the time of our inspection a manager was in post and registered with the Care Quality Commission.
