At the last assessment records were not kept relating to supplementary and refresher training completed by staff. During this assessment we saw that there was a spreadsheet in place which recorded additional training completed by staff.
Regular clinical governance meetings were in place and attended by all healthcare providers at HMP YOI Deerbolt. Minutes indicated that the meetings followed a set agenda covering key areas such as incident reporting and any prison related challenges. Medicines management meetings also took place regularly to review the effective of medicines processes and for oversight of prescribing trends.
Staff attended a daily safety huddle which followed a standard agenda to ensure that all key areas were discussed. This was attended by the head of healthcare, clinical leads and nursing staff. We observed a safety huddle during the inspection and saw that all staff were able to contribute, and a record was kept ensuring any actions were followed up.
