Date of Assessment: 20 October to 25 November 2025. Belle Vue Nursing Home provides accommodation, nursing and personal care for up to 50 people, some of whom are living with a dementia. At the time of the assessment 48 people were living in the home. This assessment was undertaken in part due to concerns received around the quality of people’s care and support, staffing, complaints, information and medicines management. We did not find any evidence that people had been placed at risk of harm. However, we did identify a breach of regulation relating to good governance due to shortfalls in some care and medicines records.
Systems and processes were in place to assess risks to people and ensure they were safeguarded from avoidable harm. The provider learned from accidents and incidents to mitigate future risks. Staff followed infection prevention and control processes. There were enough trained and competent staff to support people and keep them safe.
Staff supported people with their nutritional needs, to access a range of health care professionals and encouraged them to live healthier lives. A relative told us, “[Person] is seen by the district nurse regularly and any changes to his needs are responded to immediately.” People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives, and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible. The policies and systems in the service supported this practice.
Staff supported people in a kind, caring way and respected their decisions and choices. People received person-centred care and care plans detailed how they wished to be supported. Staff knew how to effectively communicate with people and communication methods were detailed in care records.
