Farway Grange Care Home (Nursing) is a residential care home registered to provide care and support for up to 35 people. The accommodation was arranged across two separate buildings located on the same road. At the time of our inspection, 24 people were living at the service. This was a planned inspection carried out between 14 July and 15 July 2025, during which we inspected all quality statements under the five key questions: safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well led. The service had an established and proactive registered manager, who expressed a strong commitment to person-centred care. They told us they were "passionate about delivering person-centred care." There were systems to monitor and improve the quality of the care delivered. Risk assessments and care plans were up to date, personalised, and designed to protect people's safety and well-being. Staff consistently followed safeguarding policies and procedures and demonstrated a clear understanding of how to report concerns both internally and to external bodies. They also expressed trust in the registered manager's handling of such matters. People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment when this is in their best interests and legally authorised under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). In care homes, and some hospitals, this is usually through MCA application procedures called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA, whether appropriate legal authorisations were in place when needed to deprive a person of their liberty, and whether any conditions relating to those authorisations were being met. Recruitment procedures were thorough and prioritised safety. Pre-employment checks including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and references had been completed before staff started work. Interview records confirmed that a values-based recruitment approach was used to assess applicants’ suitability for working in care. Staff undertook a detailed induction programme. Ongoing supervision, training, and competency assessments were used to ensure staff had the knowledge and practical skills to support people safely and effectively. The service benefited from a consistent and experienced staff team who had built trusting and compassionate relationships with people using the service. Staff spoke positively about their roles and the support they received. A staff member shared, “I’m happy working here because everyone helps each other.”

Feedback gathered during the inspection reflected a high level of satisfaction with the care and support people received. People felt they had been included in decisions about their care and were encouraged to make choices aligned with their personal preferences. A family member said, “They’re all great. I can’t fault them. They’ve been so supportive.” Another relative commented, “I have confidence in how she’s being looked after.” These comments were consistent with the broader feedback received during the inspection.
