Assessment dates: 11 December – 22 December 2025.

Nightingale Nursing and Care Home is a care home providing nursing and personal care to older adults, living with physical health conditions and dementia. At the time of the assessment the service supported 28 people. The last rating for Nightingale Nursing and Care Home was good published 12 January 2022. This responsive focused assessment of this service was prompted by concerns about the management of the service; therefore, a decision was made to assess the key questions of safe and well led only. The overall rating for this service remains as good. We found risk assessments relating to people’s health needs were inconsistent some were of good standard whereas others needed further development. We fed this back to the provider who took immediate action to ensure staff had accurate guidance for people. The home was clean and tidy, with processes in place to ensure the environment in which people lived remained safe. Medicines were managed safely. The service had gone through recent management changes which had impacted the service previously, the provider had taken significant action to address the management shortfalls and protect people from the risk of harm. Governance processes in place highlighted areas for improvement. The provider, staff and interim management team displayed a committed attitude to improving the safety and quality of care for people living at the service.

People's experience of the service

Updated 6 November 2025

People provided mixed feedback about Nightingale Nursing and Care Home. People told us that whilst they felt safe living at the service, the changes in management raised concerns. The provider and management team recognised the impact staff changes had on people using the service and were working hard to re-build trust and drive service improvement. People and their relatives told us, staff were kind and caring. We received mixed feedback about the number of staff on duty; some told us they felt there were enough and others said there could be more. Our observations, documentation and staff feedback found there were enough staff on duty to support people safely. The provider had recently increased staffing numbers following feedback and a review of people’s needs. This meant action was taken when people raised concerns.
