Archived: HMR Medical and Nursing Service

The previous registered manager had left the agency in October 2013. The provider had appointed a manager to the role and their registration with CQC was underway at the time of the inspection.

At the time of this inspection the agency was providing care to three people. We spoke with three family members of the people who used the service. People told us that care workers were always kind, helpful and cheerful. People also told us that care workers stayed for the amount of time they needed and always checked if any other help was required before they left. One person told us "My mother likes all of the care workers and looks forward to their visits".

We found shortfalls in the way people's care was assessed, monitored and delivered. People's needs were not fully assessed, and planned for. We also found shortfalls in the way that medicines were managed for people. This placed people at risk of unsafe care.

We also found shortfalls in the agency's systems for protecting vulnerable adults from abuse and the standard of record keeping. The agency had no systematic approach to the monitoring of the quality of service provided to people who used the service.
