During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment: 06 January 2026 to 02 February 2026. The inspection was triggered in response to the previous rating. Hutton Manor Care Home is a residential care home providing personal care for to up to 86 people. The service provides support to older and younger people, people living with dementia, people with sensory and physical disabilities and other health related support and care needs. Hutton Manor Care Home accommodates people across three separate floors. The first-floor area specialises in providing care to people living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 80 people using the service.
At the last inspection we identified breaches of two regulations. We found care records lacked information putting people at risk of receiving care and support which was not always safe. People were deprived of their liberty for the purpose of receiving care or treatment without lawful authority. At this inspection we found improvements had been made in all areas and the service were no longer in breach.
We saw medicines were generally stored securely and administered by trained staff, however the overall safety and reliability of medicines management required improvement. Time‑critical medicines, such as those for Parkinson’s disease, were not consistently administered or recorded at the correct times for one person. The provider took appropriate and immediate action at the time of inspection regarding the feedback and provided evidence to support this.
The provider promoted independence, choice, and control, ensuring people were treated with dignity and respect. Care plans reflected personal, cultural, and social needs, and people reported feeling empowered to make decisions about their daily life.
Recruitment processes ensured safe recruitment of staff. There was enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff had a good understanding of safeguarding processes and respected people’s wishes. Training was in place for staff to ensure they were able to support people.
Accidents, incidents and safeguarding concerns were robustly managed. Quality assurance systems and processes were effectively implemented and updated to ensure safety and drive improvement. The management team were transparent and open throughout the assessment and committed to addressing any areas for improvement found during the inspection.
