Independence, choice and control

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People we spoke with who use the service expressed positive experiences. One person told us, “I am happy” and that the carers “help me go shopping, go out to the bank or go for a coffee.” They also told us they were supported to attend mosque when staff have availability, demonstrating respect for people’s cultural and religious needs. Another person told us “The carers are excellent,” and shared that “They have helped me to start to walk again,” thereby fostering them to regain independence with mobility. People who use the service told us management seek feedback from them to monitor and assess how people are doing and to ensure they are satisfied with their care, which helped people feel a sense of control over their care planning and support needs.

A relative we spoke with told us the care staff were “kind” and “loving” in their approach to caring for their loved one. They told us their loved one never felt “rushed” and was cared for with “compassion” that supported people’s autonomy.
