Our view of the service
We rated the service as Good. Staff consistently praised the manager’s supportive leadership. An open and honest culture was evident, with opportunities for career development and work-life balance. Systems ensured smooth transitions between providers, and staff had appropriate training and competencies.
The service was sensitive to the emotional needs of women attending scans. Early and late pregnancy clinics were scheduled separately to avoid distress. This approach supported women with previous pregnancy losses and those experiencing anxiety. Consent processes followed best practice. Staff were kind, compassionate, and responsive to questions. Flexible appointment times, including evenings and weekends, ensured accessibility.
People's experience of this service
People told us staff were discreet and responsive when caring for them. They told us staff took time to interact with them and those close to them in a respectful and considerate way. We observed women and their families attend the clinic for their scans. Women were greeted with warmth and kindness. We observed staff took individual families to bespoke areas of the clinic to relax with loved ones prior to their scans. Large families told us they were relaxed and were still able to feel private due to the spacious setting of the clinic.
Women said staff treated them well and with kindness. We spoke with 10 women who told us that staff were ‘amazing’, and that ‘it was really nice, it felt more of an experience rather than just a scan’. The joy that women expressed was visible during our inspection. People told us and we saw staff explained each step calmly and clearly, taking time to point out baby’s individual features and movement, creating an experience. Staff demonstrated a genuine interest and excitement during every scan that we observed.
