Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 11 July 2025. GAIN Care Limited in Leeds is a care at home service providing support to adults, including people who require end of life care. At the time of assessment, the service was supporting 15 people.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulations in relation to consent and recruitment. Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.
During this assessment, we found risk assessments were in place to identify and manage risks to people and staff. Accidents and incidents were recorded, investigated and analysed by the registered manager. When required, changes were implemented. Staff were knowledgeable about identifying and reporting safeguarding concerns and the policies and procedures in place were appropriate. Medicines were managed safely. The registered manager had processes in place to ensure care visits were completed on time.
The service had developed person-centered assessments and care plans to guide staff according with people’s needs and preferences, including those who required end of life care. Staff worked with relevant healthcare professionals to meet the needs of people.
There was a shared vision and culture based on delivering quality care. The provider had implemented champion roles for staff to be involved in implementing improvements at the service. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities.
There were effective quality assurance processes in place. This ensured an appropriate management oversight of the care delivered, as well as implementing any improvements when required. We received positive feedback about the registered manager being available and approachable.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 2 people using the service and 9 relatives about their experience of the care provided.
Feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive from people and relatives. They told us staff were caring, provided safe and compassionate care and were attentive to details that mattered to people. A relative told us, “The carers are not there just to do a job; they really do care and pay attention to detail.”
People and relatives told us care was centred around people’s needs. A relative told us, “It is very reassuring that my [relative] is getting the very best of care and I will be forever grateful.”
Care was provided in a way that respected people’s dignity. Relatives consistently shared positive feedback about staff being kind and respecting people’s wishes. A relative commented, “They are providing dignified and respectful care to my [relative] at a time of palliative care and showing wonderful compassion.”
People and relatives told us being cared for GAIN Care Limited in Leeds were flexible, had a positive impact on their lives and they would recommend this service to others. Their comments included, “They are very flexible as well and will provide extra care if we need it” and “I would highly recommend them to others.
