During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment: 12 November to 12 December 2025. We visited the service onsite on 12 November and 2 December 2025. Tanglewood Care Home is a care home with nursing providing support to older and younger people. Some people were living with dementia or physical disabilities.
People and staff consistently reported feeling confident to raise concerns, knowing they would be listened to and acted upon. Leaders, including the registered manager, directors, and the wider team, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering truly person-centred care. Interactions between staff and people were marked by exceptional patience, compassion, and respect. The registered manager actively promoted innovation, leading to significant improvements in people’s wellbeing and reducing the risk of social isolation.
Recruitment processes were robust, ensuring only suitable candidates joined the team. Staff competency was regularly assessed, and the workforce had access to comprehensive training, supervision, and ongoing support to continually develop their skills.
Strong governance systems enabled continuous monitoring, review, and improvement planning. People were fully involved in decisions about their care, supported by detailed care plans and risk assessments that safeguarded them from avoidable harm. Leaders fostered a culture of openness, learning, and reflective practice, ensuring high standards were maintained.
The team worked collaboratively with health and social care professionals to manage people’s health needs effectively, ensuring guidance was tailored to individual requirements. Equipment was consistently available, well-maintained, and the environment kept clean to minimise infection risks. Medicines were managed and administered safely in line with best practice, supporting people to live healthier lives.
