All Inspections

During a routine inspection

Patients who we spoke with confirmed they had completed a consent form and the process had been fully explained to them. One person said, 'I needed to sign a consent form, but the nurse and doctor made sure I fully understood what was going to happen before I signed.'

We reviewed the patient path ways (journey) at the Edgware Pregnancy Advisory Service; we saw that patients can be referred from their doctor or be a self-refer, by calling the contact centre. The centre would take some personal details and give the patient a reference number. This ensures confidentiality when patients arrive at the clinic.

All staff were able to explain their roles in infection control at the clinic. We saw they had all received recent infection control training and this was updated yearly.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. We spoke with five staff, all confirmed they were happy with the level of staffing and believed the unit was staffed with the appropriate skill mix. They said that if staffing fell below a safe number the manager would act to ensure the service was safe.

The provider currently asked all patients who use the service to complete 'Tell-us-about-it,' patient satisfaction survey and feedback questionnaire. This asked questions such as, view of making the appointment, waiting times, staff and treatment received. We spoke with four patients during the inspection; all four said they had been seen promptly, one person said, 'I had no waiting; the appointment was quick and efficient.'
