Inspection carried out on 3 March 2021

During an inspection looking at part of the service

Baycroft Flitwick is a ‘nursing home’ providing accommodation, personal care and nursing care to a maximum of 75 younger and older people. Some of whom may be living with different types of dementia. There were 19 people living at the home when we inspected, no one was in receipt of nursing care.

We found the following examples of good practice.

¿ The home was clean. Cleaning schedules showed key areas were cleaned on a daily basis.

¿ Staff and professionals entered and left the home in a safe way. Staff promoted good social distancing practices. Relatives were encouraged to visit their relatives. There were also safe processes in place to promote people's safety during these visits.

¿ People were supported to isolate if they just moved to the home or returned from hospital appointments. Staff were aware of the importance of this.

¿ We observed staff wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly. Staff had received training in relation to PPE. Staff and people took part in regular COVID-19 testing.

¿ The manager was monitoring key aspects of infection protection control (IPC) such as PPE stock levels to promote people’s safety.
