Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The Registered Provider must not admit, or re-admit, any service users to Vale View Heights without prior written agreement of the Care Quality Commission.
The registered provider must submit a report to the Care Quality Commission within 28 days from the date of this notice. This report must set out any actions taken or to be taken at Holmesley Care Home, Fortescue Road, Sidmouth, EX10 9QG, as a result of the audits. Thereafter the registered provider must send an updated report to the Care Quality Commission on the first day of each month. Each report must specify timescales for action to be taken and highlight who is responsible to ensure that the required improvements are made.
The registered provider must provide CQC within 28 days of these conditions taking effect written confirmation that a system to ensure effective and regular staff supervisions and appraisals take place at Holmesley Care Home, Fortescue Road, Sidmouth, EX10 9QG has been implemented and provide a summary of that system.
In reviewing the quality assurance systems, you must ensure effective audits are undertaken to ensure any risk issues to service users are identified, assessed and mitigated. You must review:
a. Care plans
To ensure that all care plans contain enough information to enable staff to meet people’s needs.
b. Risk assessments
To ensure that risks to people are fully assessed and regularly reviewed.
c. Incidents and accidents
To ensure that all incidents and accidents are appropriately recorded, reported and investigated to keep people safe and prevent a reoccurrence.
d. Daily care records
To ensure that an accurate and timely record is kept of care provided.
e. Staff training
To ensure all staff have received training appropriate to their role, and that checks have been made regarding staff competency where appropriate to do so. This must include training in safeguarding, dementia care, end of life care, pressure area care and dysphagia.
f. Mental Capacity Act
To ensure all people who staff have reason to suspect lack capacity to make a specific decision themselves have their rights upheld in line with the Mental Capacity Act and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards.
Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity
The registered provider must only accommodate a maximum of 55 service users at Vale View Heights.
