Our view of the service
Date of Assessment: 18 September 2025 we attended the service. We then reviewed records remotely until 30 September 2025. The service is a nursing home providing support to people living with nursing needs, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
People were protected from avoidable harm and abuse. Improvements in medicines management meant the provider was no longer in breach of regulation, and staff promoted a positive learning culture. Risk assessments had been updated following our feedback, and staff felt confident to raise concerns. The environment was clean and well maintained, and staffing levels met people’s needs.
Care and support were effective and based on best available evidence. People were involved in their assessments and care planning, and staff worked well with external professionals. While some care plans required further detail, particularly around complex needs, the provider responded promptly to feedback and made necessary amendments.
People were treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Staff knew people well and tailored support to their individual preferences and backgrounds. People were supported to make choices and maintain independence, and staff responded promptly to their needs. Staff wellbeing was monitored, and morale had improved under the new manager.
Some care records and risk mitigation lacked sufficient detail in some areas, and audits did not always result in timely action. This placed people at risk of harm and resulted in a breach of regulation. The provider acknowledged these concerns and took immediate steps to address them.
Leadership remained strong, with a clear vision and inclusive culture. Staff felt supported and confident to speak up. Governance systems were overall, effective, but oversight of care records required further strengthening. The provider worked well with external partners and demonstrated a commitment to continuous improvement, which was evident due to their responsiveness around our feedback.
