Updated 10 April 2026

Laurel Court is a supported living service for adults living with learning disabilities and autism, sensory impairment and physical disabilities, for up to 26 people. At the time of the assessment, there were 24 people living at the service.

The assessment took place on 12 May 2026, with an out of hours visit on 14 May 2026. This was a planned inspection due to an aged rating.

We assessed the service against the ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance. This enabled us to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

Leadership and governance were well established and effective. Staff delivered care that was consistently inclusive and person-centred. They knew people well and used strong communication skills to support choice and autonomy. Care plans were person-centred, detailed and reviewed regularly to ensure accuracy.

People were treated with dignity and respect and were supported to feel safe and valued. Safeguarding was well understood by staff, who showed good awareness of their responsibilities, and the provider had a strong working relationship with the local authority.

Care was delivered in the least restrictive way and in line with legal requirements, with a focus on people’s rights. Staff worked in partnership with individuals and those important to them to ensure decisions were made in people’s best interests, when needed.

Infection prevention and control measures were in place and staff acted on their principles to keep people safe.

Staff worked effectively with external professionals, ensuring people had access to healthcare and specialist input they required to maintain their wellbeing and independence.

Staff felt confident to raise concerns or suggest improvements, knowing these would be acted upon. The provider demonstrated commitment to improvement and achieving the highest possible quality of life for each person living at Laurel Court.

Relatives described the registered manager as approachable, supportive, and visible and they could raise concerns with them, if required.

The culture of the service was open, friendly, and welcoming. Relatives were supported and encouraged to maintain ongoing relationships and remain involved in their family member’s care. One relative told us, “They are always on the ball”.
