Staff responded to people’s needs in the moment and acted to minimise any discomfort, concern or distress. We observed staff around meal times interact with people in a caring and compassionate way, and staff anticipated people’s needs quickly regarding food and fluids. Policies were tailored to people’s religious beliefs, for example, the services medicines policy referred to ‘Attention must also be paid to the administration of medicines during fasting, e.g. Ramadan.’ The service worked to ensure there was equity in experience and outcome.
