Date of Assessment: 14 July to 1 August 2025. Kingston Court Care Home provides accommodation, nursing and personal care for up to 80 people who have physical and mental health conditions, including those living with dementia. At the time of the inspection 75 people used the service.

We received some concerns regarding the care provided and this prompted us to visit sooner than planned. We found no evidence of these concerns during our visit.

Medicines were generally well managed. We asked for some updates to take place regarding recordings to enhance processes further and this was completed.

Safeguarding concerns were reported and dealt with appropriately. The management team were working to improve communication with people and families around this. Visitors to the service were not always signing in/out which posed a risk. We also observed a visitor entering the code to the front door to let themselves out. Codes were changed and visiting procedures were updated with staff.

There was enough kind and compassionate permanent staff who received training and support. We received a small number of comments from staff indicating more staff were required in part of the home. This was being reviewed by the provider.

Food and refreshments were fresh and plentiful. We identified some updates to processes to enhance the mealtime experience and these were acted upon.

There was a strong focus on activities to improve people’s mobility and mental stimulation and support independence and choice. A good activities team were in place to support this.

People's experience of the service

Updated 7 July 2025

People and their relatives were positive overall about the care and support received, and would recommend the home to others. People told us if they had any concerns, they would be addressed by the management team.

Some people and relatives thought some of the meals were bland and could be better. Communication from staff was raised as an issue by some people and relatives. The management team were going to address these issues raised.

People told us they felt safe, and relatives confirmed this. We did receive some concerns about how an incident had been dealt with, but we found the provider had acted appropriately in conjunction with the local authority safeguarding team.
