All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We carried out the unannounced visit as part of our planned schedule of inspections. Purple Balm was a small domiciliary care agency which provided services to ten people in the community. The visit was very positive with the full cooperation of the manager.

We spoke with three people who received a service. Comments made by the people were very positive and one person said that they were "absolutely satisfied with the agency" another person said "I am very pleased because the staff were very caring and helpful and I couldn't manage without them".

We spoke with the manager, administrator, two members of staff and one prospective staff member who was successful in obtaining a position with the agency. Comments made were "I am very happy working here", "I am supported by the manager to do my job well". Positive comments were made about the thorough interview that took place. Staff told us that they were familiar with the safeguarding procedures and had acted as trained when safeguarding issues had been identified.

Records kept in staff personnel files showed us all appropriate pre-employment checks were carried out. This meant people were protected by an effective recruitment process.
