During a routine inspection

Clarendon House opened in April 2013. During our visit there were three people living there. The manager told us plans were being made to move four other people into the home.

We were able to speak with two of the three people living at Clarendon House at the time of our visit. One person told us: 'I like the staff.' We saw people were relaxed and supported with activities of their choosing.

We toured the building and were invited into people's bedrooms. We saw people kept their rooms in the way they preferred. One person told us their room was untidy because that was how they liked it.

Each person had a support plan which included likes and dislikes and goals they wished to achieve. Records showed staff worked with other health care professionals with regard to peoples care and welfare. This included making decisions in people's best interests when they could not do this for themselves, to safeguard against the risks of abuse or harm.

We saw a range of other records were in place to protect people against the risk of unsafe or inappropriate care. These included health and safety records and maintenance checks of the building. We saw records showed recruitment processes were in place. This ensured staff had the necessary experience and qualifications to support people with their care appropriately and safely.
