Date of Assessment:16 to 23 October 2025.The service is a residential care home providing support to older people and younger adults living with dementia, mental health needs or sensory impairment. The assessment was carried out in response to concerns we had received from a relative of a person, who had used the service, about their care at the service. We were satisfied these concerns had been addressed and we found significant improvements since our previous assessment.
The provider needed to improve the management of medicines to ensure people’s medicine did not run out and they received their medicines as prescribed. Medicine audits needed to improve to identify the concerns we found.
The provider had a good learning culture where incidents were investigated, and themes and trends were identified. We saw action taken to help reduce further harm. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met people’s needs, were clean and well-maintained and any risks mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience.
People were involved in assessments of their needs. People’s care was based on good practice and staff worked with all agencies involved for the best outcomes for people. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy and had choices over what meals they had. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.
People were treated with kindness and compassion, and staff protected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated people as individuals, supported their preferences and ensured they had choice in their care. Staff responded to people’s needs in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing.
People received person centred care. Staff provided information in formats people could understand. People knew how to give feedback and complaints were taken seriously and acted on. People received fair and equal care and treatment.
Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally. There was a culture of continuous improvement within the whole service and from staff.
