National Dental Also known as National Dental and Implant Centre Limited

We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 16 April 2026. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.

We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of National Dental on 16 January 2026. We had found the registered provider was not providing safe, effective and well-led care and was in breach of Regulation 12 (Safe care and treatment) and Regulation 17 (Good governance) of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.

During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had not met regulations.

The practice had made some improvements to the systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff had the skills and experience to carry out their roles, but some gaps in knowledge were identified.

The practice had made improvements to their systems to review and investigate incidents and accidents.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation.

The practice is in Dorchester, Dorset and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

There was step-free access to the practice via a removable ramp, and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms, currently one of these is used for decontamination processes.

At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 5 staff, of which there were 2 dentists, 2 dental nurses and a practice manager. During the inspection we spoke with 1 dentist, 2 dental nurses, and the practice manager.

The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 (Good governance).

We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.

We carried out this announced onsite inspection on 13 January 2026.

We found the practice had not met all regulations.

The practice did not have effective systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control.

Staff did not have the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.

Recruitment procedures reflected current legislation but were not being followed and there was ineffective leadership.

Staff did not provide care and treatment in line with current guidance.

Staff did not manage medicines and prescriptions in line with current guidance.

The practice did not have effective systems to review and investigate incidents and accidents.

The practice did not handle complaints effectively.

The practice is in Dorchester, Dorset and provides private dental care and treatment for adults and children.

The practice had 2 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 5 staff, of which there were 2 dentists and 3 trainee dental nurses. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists and 3 dental nurses.

The provider was not complying with Regulations 12 (Safe care and treatment) and Regulation 17 (Good governance).
