Our current view of the service

Outstanding

Updated 7 April 2026

Date of Assessment: 8 and 9 April 2026. Woodside is registered to provide care and support for up to 4 people. The service provides specialist care for people with a physical disability, some of whom are living with a learning disability and an additional need. There were 4 people living at the service. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people had respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Safe systems in place meant people were protected from avoidable harm. There were enough staff, who were suitably skilled to provide care. People received their medicines as prescribed and risks to their wellbeing had been identified. Safeguarding procedures were established, and there were opportunities for learning. The service worked with external professionals to ensure they had access to healthcare as required. The service promoted an inclusive environment where everyone was welcomed, valued, and treated with dignity and respect. People were supported to maintain relationships that were important to them and were encouraged to spend time with loved ones. A wide range of meaningful activities was available, tailored to people’s interests, abilities, and aspirations, supporting their emotional wellbeing and quality of life. The service sought to work with their local community and had many established links. Governance systems were in place to ensure oversight. The registered manager and provider told us they were passionate about providing the best level of care possible.

People's experience of the service

Updated 7 April 2026

People were encouraged and supported to live a full and meaningful life. The service was focused on positive risk taking and ensuring people were able to experience new things in a safe and person-centred way. A staff member said, “no two days are the same for the people, we are always looking at new opportunities and experiences for them, and make sure they are not subjected to the same routines day to day.” People had multiple health and social care needs and the provider considered these. Where people were unable to communicate verbally, we observed interactions between them, their peers and staff. People’s relatives told us Woodside was a safe place to be. People could rely on staff who were supporting them to live a comfortable life. Relatives told us they had peace of mind and where appropriate, were kept informed of changes about people’s condition. A relative said, “[Person] is living their best life. I do not need to worry about them and can concentrate on being a family member.” Staff were passionate and committed to ensuring people felt safe and secure.
