During an assessment under our new approach

HMP Lincoln is a men’s prison in Lincolnshire operated by HM Prison and Probation Service, with a capacity of approximately 600 prisoners.

We Are With You (WAWY) is commissioned by NHS England to deliver clinical and psychosocial substance misuse services at the prison. WAWY is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to carry out the regulated activities of diagnostic and screening procedures, and the treatment of disease, disorder, or injury.

We carried out an announced inspection on 2 June 2026 of the healthcare services provided by WAWY at HMP Lincoln. This inspection was carried out to follow up on a regulatory breach identified during our previous inspection in June 2025.

At this inspection, we assessed 2 quality statements. Since the previous inspection, the provider has made improvements and is no longer in breach of Regulation 12, Safe Care and Treatment.

Processes relating to the administration of medicines for alcohol withdrawal had improved. However, the audit process required strengthening.

We do not currently rate services provided in prisons. We highlight good practice and issues that service providers need to improve and take regulatory action, as necessary.

During a routine inspection

Information was available for people who used the service to explain what was available to help meet their care and treatment needs.

The senior staff we spoke with were able to discuss appropriate procedures were in place to ensure consent was obtained from people who used the service. Support workers confirmed they always obtained consent from service users.

We saw evidence that people received care and treatment that ensured their well-being and safety.

We saw safeguarding procedures were in place to safeguard people who used the service. We saw there was contact with other agencies such as the local authority, police and probation service.

Staff we spoke with commented; "There is a good staff team." And. "I am well supported." They all said there were plenty of training opportunities.

We saw people who used the service were asked their views and they were acted upon.
