Our current view of the service

Good

Updated 6 January 2025

MiHomecare Islington is a domiciliary homecare agency providing support to adults of all ages. At the time of our assessment they provided support to 315 people and employed 220 members of staff.

Staff and managers were knowledgeable about recognising and reporting safeguarding but were also able to identify and support positive risk taking.

MiHomecare staff received regular, relevant training and additional learning was encouraged.

Staff were knowledgeable about the individual needs of people. Care records were well kept and regularly audited by managers. Consent was always sought when providing care and people were involved in care planning and decisions around their care needs.

Managers and senior staff prioritised staff wellbeing in regular supervision and with recognition of staff achievements. People and staff were encouraged to provide regular feedback as well as on an ad hoc basis. They told us they felt able to do so and listened to when they did. This was evident in complaint records and team meeting notes.

People's experience of the service

Updated 6 January 2025

We spoke to a combination of people and their families/friends totalling 36. The majority of feedback we received was positive. Some people found care staff did not always arrive on time, but they were usually kept informed if they were running late. “If they are going to be late, they let us know if not we can contact them.”

People said they felt well informed about their/their relatives care and that any concerns were listened to. Everyone we spoke to said they felt safe with the care staff and were treated with dignity and respect. “The care staff are always pleasant and caring. We trust them”

People felt involved in their care planning and were aware of their care plans being regularly reviewed
