Our view of the service

Date of assessment: 30 July and 4 August 2026. The service is a care at home service, providing support to older people, people living with dementia, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and mental health support needs. At our last inspection of this service in 2020, the provider was in breach of the legal regulations in relation to consent, safe care and treatment, safeguarding people from abuse and improper treatment, good governance and staffing. Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.

People received safe care which reflected their needs and risks. Referrals to community agencies were made when people needed additional support to keep them safe and manage their risks. Staff were recruited safely, with appropriate checks completed to ensure they were suitable to support people in their homes. The registered manager ensured staff completed the

training necessary to meet people’s needs and keep them safe. Staff followed safe infection prevention and control practices and people’s medicines were managed safely. People were protected from abuse and the risk of avoidable harm. When people experienced accidents or incidents, appropriate action was taken to reduce future risks and maintain their safety. People’s capacity to make decisions about their care was assessed and when they lacked the capacity to express their wishes, their relatives or representatives were consulted.

People’s needs and risks were assessed before the service started supporting them, to ensure staff would be able to meet their needs. People’s needs and risks were reviewed regularly to ensure their care remained appropriate. People received individualised care from staff who knew them and how they wished to be supported. When people needed specialist support from other community agencies to meet their needs, this was arranged. Staff monitored people’s health and well being and worked well with partner agencies to ensure people received the support they needed, when they needed it.

Staff were kind, respectful and compassionate and treated people as individuals. They promoted people’s independence and respected their right to privacy and dignity. People were encouraged to make decisions about their care and their choices were respected. Staff took action to respond to people’s immediate needs and improve their quality of life.

Staff provided people with individualised care which reflected their preferences, routines and what was important to them. People’s care needs were discussed with them, and they were actively involved in decisions about their care. When they were unable to express their views, their relatives were consulted to ensure any decisions made were in their best interests. Staff were aware of people’s communication needs and information was provided in a format people could understand. The registered manager and staff worked hard to ensure people experienced a good quality of life and advocated on their behalf when access to care or equipment proved difficult. People’s end of life care needs and wishes were discussed with them or where appropriate their relatives.

The registered manager, who was also the provider, prioritised providing people with good quality care which reflected their needs and how they wanted to be supported. They had effective processes to ensure appropriate standards of quality and safety were maintained and monitored staff performance to ensure people were consistently provided with safe, effective care. People, relatives and staff felt the service was managed well and found the registered manager and staff approachable and helpful.
