Eleighwater House is registered to provide personal care and accommodation to up to 8 people. The home specialises in the care of older people. The assessment was completed between 13 December 2023 and 9 January 2024. A site visit to gather people’s experiences and observe care practices was carried out on 13 December 2023. Where people were at risk of harm, assessments were carried out, however some of the assessments required additional information to ensure they covered all of the mitigating actions in place. Staff had not always received all the training required. However, they knew people well, knew how to support them safely and people were complimentary about the care they received from staff. We did not find that these shortfalls had impacted people’s care and these issues were rectified during the assessment. There were sufficient and consistent staff to meet people’s needs and provide personalised care and support. Staff knew how to recognise and report abuse and told us they would not hesitate to report any concerns to the registered manager. Staff promoted choices and independence and worked around people’s preferred routines. Staff had received training in equality and diversity and worked in a way that encouraged people to share their views.
