Updated 23 March 2026
We carried out this announced on-site inspection on 19 August 2026.
We found the practice had not met all regulations.
The practice had some systems to identify and manage risks, including infection prevention and control. Some issues for action were outstanding in risk assessments completed at the practice.
There was scope for improvement in the oversight of systems in place to demonstrate that staff had the skills, knowledge and experience to carry out their roles.
Improvements were required to recruitment procedures to ensure they reflected current legislation.
Staff provided care and treatment that was largely consistent with current guidance, although sedation treatments did not always follow established guidance. Staff treated patients with dignity and respect and ensured access to care, support, and treatment when required.
The practice is in Stratford Upon Avon and provides NHS and private dental care and treatment for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice and car parking spaces available, including dedicated parking for disabled people, near the practice.
The practice had 11 treatment rooms. At the time of our inspection, there was a total of 38 staff, of which there were 12 dentists, 1 visiting oral surgeon, 6 dental nurses, 4 trainee dental nurses, 3 dental therapists, 1 dental hygienist, 5 receptionists (one also holds a management role), 4 practice management staff (including a marketing manager, a compliance and human resources manager (who was also a qualified dental nurse), a practice administrator and the practice manager), 1 decontamination lead and 1 handyman. Some staff at the practice held lead roles or dual roles, such as the Head Receptionist, Head Nurse and Purchasing and Equipment Manager. We gathered feedback from staff and spoke to a range of staff during our inspection, including 2 dentists, 3 dental nurses, 2 trainee dental nurses, the decontamination lead, the compliance and human resources manager, 3 receptionists and the practice manager.
The provider was not complying with Regulation 17 Good governance of the Health and Social Care Act (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.Full details of the regulations the provider was not meeting are within the inspection report.
We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.
