We carried out this assessment on 27 August, 8 and 9 September 2026. At the time of the assessment, 11 people were receiving support with their personal care.BYS Care Training Services Ltd is a domiciliary care agency that supports people in their own homes. The service supports people with different needs, including mental health needs, dementia and physical disabilities. CQC only regulates services where people receive personal care. Personal care includes help with things such as washing, dressing, using the toilet and eating. Not everyone using the service needed support with personal care. Where people received other types of social care and support, this was also considered during the assessment.
The provider had systems to protect people from abuse and avoidable harm. Staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities, recognised risks and knew how to report concerns. One staff member told us, “If I notice any abuse, risk or something that could affect the person’s safety, I would document it and report it to my manager. If necessary, I would also report it to the police or the local authority safeguarding team.”
There were sufficient staff with the skills, knowledge and experience to meet people’s needs safely. Staff received training and supervision and understood risks to people’s safety. Care plans reflected people’s needs, preferences and risks, with guidance for staff on how to provide safe, person-centred care. Staff sought consent and followed the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
The management team was approachable and supportive. Staff felt able to raise concerns and were listened to. The provider had systems to monitor quality and safety, identify improvements and use feedback and learning to improve care. A staff member told us, “We are there to meet people’s needs and what is important to them. We have to respect their choices, religion, traditions and preferences and make sure the support we provide is right for the individual.”
