Date of assessment: 29 May to 20 June 2026.As part of the assessment, we received feedback from people and relatives via email and reviewed information remotely. Nupath Care Northumberland provides homecare support to people with a range of needs, some of whom were living with complex needs. People receiving homecare support lived in their own homes with tailored support arrangements. This included people with specific health conditions and some with a learning disability and/or autism. We checked the provider was meeting the needs of people with a learning disability and autistic people, in line with the principles of Right support, right care, right culture. At the last inspection inDecember 2019, the service was rated good. At this inspection, we rated the service good.

There were sufficient staff deployed to meet people’s needs in a timely way. Potential risks to people’s safety had been assessed and management plans developed. Medicines were managed appropriately, with regular audits completed to check people received their medicines on time. New staff were recruited safely and received training and support to fulfil their roles.

Staff understood safeguarding and whistle blowing processes and felt confident to raise concerns if needed. Safeguarding concerns and complaints had been reported and investigated.

Staff followed good infection prevention and control (IPC) practices and had completed relevant training.

People’s needs had been assessed, and the information gathered was used to develop personalised care plans. Care plans were focused on promoting independence and community participation. People had regular access to a range of healthcare professionals when required. Staff understood and supported people’s communication needs. People’s care was reviewed regularly and feedback received from people was positive.

The service had a clear management structure, with an experienced registered manager. Staff gave positive feedback about management support, teamwork and morale. Staff described the service as having a supportive culture and a clear focus on delivering personalised care.

The provider had a structured approach to quality assurance which had been effective in identifying areas for improvement. The service worked collaboratively with external partners such as the local authority and attended provider forums to share good practice.

People's experience of the service

People gave positive feedback about the care and support they received. A person said, “At the moment we are very happy with Nupath care.” They told us they had good relationships with staff and were supported to achieve their outcomes. People did not raise concerns about the quality of care provided. However, some people described minor inconsistencies with staff rotas, which affected the consistency of staff and communication at times. Staff supported people to experience life-long ambitions, new experiences and develop new skills.
