Our view of the service
We undertook a follow-up on-site inspection on 18 September 2025. This was carried out to review the actions taken by the registered provider to improve the quality of care and to assess whether the practice was meeting legal requirements.
We had previously undertaken an announced on-site inspection of Perfect Smile Reading Sedation Clinic on 27 November 2024. We had found the registered provider was not providing safe or well-led care and was in breach of regulations 12 – safe care and treatment, and 17 - good governance, of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
During our follow-up inspection, we found the practice had met the regulations.
The practice had systems to manage risks.
Sedation procedures reflected current guidelines.
There was effective leadership and a culture of continuous improvement.
Perfect Smile Reading Sedation Clinic is part of Perfect Smile, a dental group provider. The practice is in Reading, Berkshire and provides NHS dental care and treatment, including advanced sedation for adults and children.
There was step-free access to the practice (via the back entrance) and car parking spaces were available near the practice.

During the assessment we spoke with 1 dentist, 2 dental nurses, 2 receptionists and the practice manager. We also spoke with the CQC registered manager.
