During a routine inspection

The manager explained that in consultation with the people they supported they had chosen to be referred to as 'customers.' We have used this preferred term throughout our report.

Customers being supported by the service told us they were very happy with the support provided by the staff team. They made various comments such as:

'Yes it's good' and 'The staff help you to understand about things, it's good for me to learn.'

Staff were positive about working for the service. They were well supported with their training needs to be able to meet customer's individual needs. They had been supported with a lot of specialised training to help them in their work.

We looked at a sample of quotes offering feedback from customers following a recent presentation on health in January 2013 by staff from John Briggs House. The presentation covered lots of information and topics such as: healthy eating; walks in the park; relationships and friendships.

Customers overall comments were very positive and included feedback such as;

'She did a health passport with me; we looked around the hospital so I knew where I was going. She came to the appointment with me and we met the nurse. She gave me help and help to the hospital' ; 'I went to the men's group and they showed me how to put a condom on, how to eat healthily and we did role play'; 'The team worked with me and it was good' and 'I liked working on my plan and we are doing a passport next.'
