All Inspections

27 February 2014

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people using the service and one relative of a person using the service. We also spoke with three members of staff, including the registered manager.

People told us they understood the care and treatment choices available to them and they were given appropriate information and support regarding their care and treatment. We heard the staff members giving constant reassurance and explanations to the person using the service.

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with the information received from the referring clinician. People receiving care and treatment told us they felt fully involved in, and informed about, their care and treatment. Arrangements were in place to deal with foreseeable emergencies.

People using the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening. Members of staff had up to date training about safeguarding, and demonstrated a good knowledge of this to us.

We found there was an effective recruitment and selection process in place, and appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work with the provider.

People using the service were asked for their views about their care and treatment and they were acted on. We saw the provider had a selection of up to date risk assessments, policies and procedures. Audits were carried out on a regular basis to monitor the quality of the service provided.
