Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 12 May 2026. The service is a care home providing support to older people some of whom are living with dementia. This assessment was carried out due to the age of the rating for the service.

People received care that was assessed, reviewed and safe. Where needed, people had individual care plans and risk assessments in place. They were involved with this process and felt their choices and needs were considered.

Staff were suitably trained and recruited and were liked by the people they supported. They supported people with kindness and dignity and knew their needs well. There were enough staff available for people when needed.

There were procedures in place to ensure the safe management of medicines, infection prevention and control, safeguarding and the environment. The principles of The Mental Capacity Act 2005 were followed and implemented. There were systems in place to monitor the quality of the service. Staff felt listened to and involved with the service.

The manager was aware of the concerns raised around the decoration of the home and had plans in place to address this. They were also responsive to the concerns raised about the number of baths people received and was working to resolve these issues.

People's experience of this service

People and their relatives were happy with their care. They spoke positively about the care and support they received and the staff and managers who supported them. However, people did share feedback around the dated decor of the home and the limited opportunities to be supported to access bathing that met individual preferences.
