During a routine inspection

We observed two GP telephone consultations in the Hampshire Doctors on Call (HDOCS) main ‘hub’ and discussed the patients care and treatment with the GP. We found patients' using the service were treated with respect and involved in making decisions about their care and treatment. The provider took proper steps to ensure that patients' were protected against the risks of receiving care or treatment that was inappropriate or unsafe.

There were systems in place that enabled staff to respond appropriately when abuse occurred or patients were at risk of abuse. The provider protected patients against the risks associated with medicines because they had appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines and monitored prescribing of medicines.

We spoke with four members of staff, the registered manager and medical director. The recruitment processes in place ensured patients were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that patients received.
