The practice has a Primary Medical Services (PMS) contract.

The staff team includes two GP partners (one male and one female), one practice nurse and a practice manager. The practice is supported by a team of reception and administrative staff. Regular locum GP’s are used to cover staffing shortfalls.

The practice is registered by CQC to carry out the following regulated activities: -

Data available to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) shows the practice is responsible for providing primary care services to approximately 5,737 patients. Information published by Public Health England, rates the level of deprivation within the practice population group as five on a scale of one to ten. Level one represents the highest levels of deprivation and level ten the lowest. Male and female life expectancy in the practice geographical area is comparable to the national average at 77 years for males, compared to 79 years nationally and 81 years for females, compared to 83 years nationally.

The practice is open from 8am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday. The practice closes on one afternoon a month for training and educational purposes. When the practice is closed out-of-hours GP services are provided from 6.30pm until 8pm Monday to Friday and 8am until noon at weekends at Bath Street Health & Wellbeing Centre.

We carried out an announced comprehensive inspection of Park View Medical Practice on 17 July 2018 as part of our inspection programme. The overall rating for the practice was good, however the practice was rated as requires improvement for providing safe services. This inspection was carried out on 17 June 2019 to confirm that the practice had carried out their plan to meet the legal requirements in relation to the breaches in regulations that we identified in our previous inspection on 17 July 2018. This report covers our findings in relation to those requirements and also additional improvements made since our last inspection.

Overall the practice is now rated as Good.

Our key findings were as follows:

  • The provider had reviewed the system for ensuring the necessary recruitment checks were undertaken for any locum GPs employed.

  • The provider had reviewed their processes to ensure two-week wait referrals were made in a timely manner.
