All Inspections

28 October 2013

During a routine inspection

We looked at three support plans and other care records and they all had an assessment of their health and social needs completed. The documentation was up to date and reviewed on a monthly basis.

We spoke with two people who used the service, two relatives, and three staff members. People who used the service said: 'The service is excellent', 'The staff are fantastic' and 'The staff treat my relative very well.' All people who used the service and their relatives agreed that the carers turn up on time and stay for the allocated length of time.

Staff commented: 'The training is good', 'The staff team is small but developing well' and 'I meet up regularly with the team leader and manager and am involved in people's reviews.' All the staff said they got good support from the management team and that they had no concerns about the welfare of the people they supported.

We looked at staff recruitment and found that robust recruitment procedures were in place. We saw training and supervision records which showed good support and training was offered to staff.

We looked at safeguarding of vulnerable adults and saw policies and procedures in place. Staff were aware of the procedures to follow. People who used the service and relatives confirmed that people felt safe with staff members.

We saw the quality assurance processes and record keeping undertaken by the service and found that these were generally acceptable however the manager confirmed these would be further developed as the service grows.
