Date of Assessment: 16 April 2025 to 23 April 2025. Gerard Road is a residential care home providing support to people living with learning disabilities. We carried out this assessment due to the of the rating.

The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. The management team investigated incidents thoroughly and learnt lessons when things went wrong. Risks associated with people’s care and support were identified and action taken to mitigate them. The service was predominantly clean, although we identified some minor issues that were addressed immediately. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. The management team made sure staff received training, regular appraisals and support to maintain high-quality care. Staff managed medicines well and involved people in planning any changes.

We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
