All Inspections

29 April 2014

During an inspection looking at part of the service

During our inspection we looked at the two areas we had previously found to be non-compliant in January 2014. The provider submitted an action plan stating they would achieve compliance by the end of July 2014. The Commission considered this timescale was not acceptable, and when challenged, the provider agreed they would achieve compliance by April 2014.

We looked at how staff were supported to deliver care safely. The recently appointed practice manager had met with a number of staff individually and collectively. However, we found there were no records of the individual meetings and no framework in place to evaluate and improve the quality of service provided. Individual and group clinical supervision arrangements had been agreed with the nursing staff although no supervision had taken place.

We found the premises were cleaner than at the time of our January 2014, rusty equipment had been removed and damaged treatment chairs replaced. However, people may not be fully protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had not been followed.

31 January 2014

During a routine inspection

We found people received individualised care and treatment that was planned and agreed with them. Health files were detailed and showed people received continuity of care between professionals and specialist services. However, we found the nurse's treatment rooms were dirty and cluttered and people were not protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had not been followed. Staff did not receive individual supervision or regular peer support but did have regular appraisals and were provided with the opportunity to attend training and development.

People we spoke to told us the "the service is excellent, GP's are amongst the best you will find" and the "nurses are caring, no rush, doesn't matter how long it takes." A person described the treatment received by their family member as a "personal and individualised service" explaining how the GP gives their time and enables the person to communicate how best they can, consistently ensuring their wishes are heard.
