Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

The service had arrangements in place to promote people’s privacy and dignity. The service performed better than the national average in the results of the 2026 National GP Patient Survey, which showed that people felt listened to and were treated with kindness and compassion. For example, 94% of respondents felt the healthcare professional at their last appointment was good at treating them with care and concern, compared to a national average of 86%. During our onsite visit, we observed staff respecting people’s privacy and speaking to them in a compassionate and respectful manner.

The service actively sought feedback about people’s experiences of care. Feedback had been gathered through the carers’ café, including input from a guest speaker who attended the session, and through the ‘Voice It, Hear It’ project, which focused on managing long-term health conditions in a rural community. People were encouraged to share their experiences and views of the service. Feedback received was positive, with participants describing the support provided by the practice as good. This demonstrated the service’s commitment to listening to people and understanding their experiences of care.
