Kindness, compassion and dignity

Score: 3

The service always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect.

The practice generally exceeded or performed in line with the local and national average in the results of the 2026 National GP Patient Survey, which received 112 responses out of the 619 surveys sent out. For example, 90% of patients found the reception and administrative team helpful, compared with a local average of 83% and national average of 85%. Ninety two percent of patients said the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at listening to them during their last appointment, compared with a local average of 86% and national average of 87%. Ninety one percent of patients said the healthcare professional they saw or spoke to was good at treating them with care and concern during their last appointment, compared with a local average of 84% and national average of 86%. Staff we spoke with understood Gillick competency and there was a process to ensure young adults had control over their own privacy and the amount of parental involvement in managing their care and support. Chaperones were available for patients and staff had appropriate chaperone training. The practice had an active Patient Participation Group (PPG) with regular meetings held to discuss concerns and provide feedback on practice developments and patient services. We spoke with PPG members who described staff as kind, caring and professional. They told us staff took time to listen to concerns, clearly communicate information and signpost to relevant services where appropriate. Feedback provided to the CQC from patients were positive and described staff as patient and informative while describing the practice as exceptional.
