De Beauvoir Surgery is a GP practice serving approximately 13,000 patients under a contract with NHS England. The service is in Hackney, East London. According to data published by the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities, their population falls within decile 5 for deprivation (on a scale of 1 to 10), indicating a moderate level of deprivation relative to other areas.This assessment was prompted by the length of time since the last inspection, which took place on 11 October 2016 when the service was rated good.We assessed 33 quality statements across the five key questions: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-led. The assessment included a site visit on 22 January 2026.The service demonstrated efforts to ensure patients could access the care and treatment they needed in a timely manner. Continuity of care was maintained, including during transitions between services. Leaders showed a strong understanding of local population needs and the challenges facing the service. They also promoted staff well-being, and staff reported enjoying their roles and feeling well supported.

People's experience of the service

People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. Recent survey results, including from the national GP Patient Survey, showed people were satisfied with the services they received. There was an active patient participation group (PPG) who represented the views of people using the service. A PPG member reported that the service is responsive to patient feedback and provides good access. They explained that the provider had made positive changes, including introducing a patient triage system to improve patient access and the overall experience of contacting the service.
