All Inspections

15 May 2013

During a routine inspection

Following the inspection visit to the agency office we telephoned ten people who were receiving a service from the agency. We spoke with seven people who told us they were happy with the agency. One person said they had been with the agency for a number of years and 'were very happy with all the staff'. Everyone we spoke with told us the staff arrived on time and stayed for the correct length of time. We were told they usually had the same staff or same team of staff and care plans and records were maintained for all visits.

We also spoke with eight staff, including one new staff member and office staff. They told us about training and how new staff completed 'shadowing' shifts to enable them to put office based training into practice. Other staff confirmed they received regular training and support was always available during and out of office hours. Staff were aware of people's rights to refuse care and the actions they would take if people did not want care as planned. Staff were also aware of safeguarding procedures and their responsibilities to report concerns about people's wellbeing.

Whilst in the office we looked at six care plans and records of care provided. We also viewed information about training and supervision staff had undertaken. These were well maintained and contained all relevant required information. There were systems in place to monitor the quality of service provided.
