During a routine inspection

During our inspection we looked at how people were respected and involved in the service. We found that people had been involved in deciding what support would work for them and how that support would be delivered. People we spoke with told us they felt respected and listened to. We visited two people who used the agency in their own home and spoke with three relatives, two by telephone. Feedback was positive with comments including 'My wife has improved considerably' and 'Really impressed with the service.'

We saw from people's care plans that people were supported to live as independently as possible. The agency had carried out a sufficient assessment of the needs of each person, and kept this under review, to enable appropriate care and support to be given.

The service had in place policies and procedures covering safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable adults. Staff were familiar with safeguarding and whistle blowing procedures and knew what to do in the event of abuse being suspected.

We reviewed the recruitment and selection processes and found them to be robust. This ensured that people were supported by suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

This was the first inspection of the agency. We saw they had put systems in place to make sure people were safely cared for. This included policies and procedures, induction training for staff and quality monitoring systems.
