All Inspections

During a routine inspection

This was WAFA's first inspection since registering with us in December 2012.

Due to the nature of this service we were unable to speak with people who used it. This was because services were provided in transit in the ambulances. On this occasion we were unable to observe any care or support provided to people. Most journeys were 'one off' events. However, we read correspondence received in the last six months from people who had used the service and received comments from three organisations contracting on a regular basis with WAFA. We were told the service was reliable, safe and responsive.

We visited the service on one day and met the provider and one other staff member. We gave short notice of our visit to ensure the offices were staffed.

People were transported in a way that maintained their dignity and protected their rights.Transfers were well organised and people's care needs were met during the journey.

We found the premises and vehicles were suitable and safe. Measures were in place to provide a clean and hygienic service.

We found the staff recruitment procedures were effective as they ensured that staff were of good character and had the skills and experience for the work. Staff were also trained to ensure that people were safe on their journey.

The records we saw were up to date and well ordered. People's confidentiality was respected and maintained because records were securely stored.

The service met the six standards we inspected.
